Dec 05: 'Sven has had an injection in his back, I believe, but I haven't seen him personally since the Tottenham game. We hope that will bring about his return quite quickly, but we think there's a timeframe of about a week for the injection to work.'
Dec 16: 'With Sven, we're not entirely sure when he'll return. He's made good progress, but he's not ready to play yet.'
Dec 23: 'Sven would be in the category of a group of players that's doing well. And again, we hope to get him back pretty soon, when that day is, I'm not 100% sure. He hasn't trained with the group yet, but it's potentially good news. I don't think he's too far away.'

Possibly not, but then we hope he can be available for the double-header leading into the first game.'
Aug 09: 'That was the plan with Sven - to take him off at HT - we have to be careful with him. He picked up a slight groin issue [v Arsenal], but he's back now and trained yesterday for the first time and got through 45 minutes, so I'm delighted with him.' | Team ![]() |
| May 25 | Reason Knee Injury | Duration <2 wks | Further Detail May 11: 'He was slightly uncomfortable in the HT break with a knee problem. I don't think it's serious. May 16: 'Yeah, it was a knock actually. I think he sort of got a bang on his knee - it was sore. We're not sure about [his] availability for the weekend, we'll give him every chance. We don't think it's a serious one.' | Team ![]() |

Mar 02: 'Sven was close, did light training [on Saturday], but didn't feel 100 per cent confident in his body, so we decided not to risk him. We still hope that he can play a part either in our next game or the game after. Desperate to get him back fit.'

Then, of course, you need to get back up and running again because the schedule is unrelenting. We will try to make the right calls for them individually.' | Team ![]() |
| Jan 25 | Reason Other | Duration <2 wks | Further Detail Jan 04: 'I don't think it was anything more than cramp for Sven, which was expected given the amount of time he's been out. It was a great effort from him to last that long. We were unsure how long he would be able to go for with the speed of the PL.'
Jan 06: 'He feels good, naturally a little bit of fatigue at the end. We have to speak to the player, the medical team, the experts. They'll give me some of the answers to what we do with him next.' | Team ![]() |
| Dec 24 | Reason Other | Duration 2-4 wks | Further Detail Dec 17: 'I think we were looking right to the end of December, beginning of January; that's the plan, and we're still on track. Ideally, he needs 2-3, maybe even more games, to get his rhythm back.'
Dec 23: 'He's getting closer. I'm pleased with how he's been in the last couple of weeks; he's had various tests. He came through another practice match at the weekend. It'll be a case of deciding when we introduce him into the squad.'
Jan 03: 'I always said with Sven he'd be in and around the Christmas games. He's worked incredibly hard to get himself in a good condition. He's in and around my thoughts. If Sven is in the squad, it's because he's ready.' | Team ![]() |

Aug 07: '[Lascelles and Botman] are longer-term with knee injuries, but we hope maybe towards the end of the year that they'll be closer.'
Oct 19: 'He's hitting the right strength markers and looking really good. We haven't seen him in training yet, and we probably won't see him until after the next break. But he is closing in. The reality is that we're probably looking more towards Christmas time.'
Nov 08: 'We hope Sven can begin light training in the next few weeks. If we see him before the end of the year, that would be a bonus. We are probably looking at more like January.'
