| Month | Reason | Duration | Further Detail | Team |
| Jul 25 | Reason Groin/Hip/Pelvic Injury | Duration >4 wks | Further Detail Aug 08: 'Matheus is unfortunately injured again, so he's out. He missed the whole pre-season.'
Aug 08: 'Matheus, it's more the adductor muscle - it's not his groin where he had his troubles [last season]. But let's see. He should return, maybe in 10 days, but he missed pre-season, and this is a little bit tricky.' | Team ![]() |
| Oct 24 | Reason Groin/Hip/Pelvic Injury | Duration >4 wks | Further Detail Oct 04: 'Unfortunately, he is injured again. It's his adductor groin. It is a tough situation for him especially, and for us. I don't expect that he plays many games for us in 2024. We don't know exactly how long it takes but it will take several weeks.'
Oct 26: 'He is too far away. I don't think that he will play many games or even one game in for us. We expected Franca to be back within two to three months and he's still out.'
Dec 13: 'He's training individually, and his progress gets better and better. It looks like he will join us in team training, if everything goes in the right direction, early in the New Year. For the December games, he's not available.'
Dec 20: 'If a player is injured for eight months, he needs one month/six weeks to train constantly with the team. He also needs a few games with the U21s to get in shape. There’s no chance of seeing him until the middle or end of Feb.'
Jan 24: 'Franca is training with us but needs more time on the pitch to get into his best shape, so he won’t be available.'
Jan 31: 'Franca trained with us the whole week without any issues, and we’re thinking [he] will in the squad because [he was] very impressive. It will lift [his] confidence and mood after being out for several weeks.'
Feb 07: 'The original plan was to give him minutes with the U21s. But now, with Ebs and Eddie not available, it could be that he's in the squad for Monday night. This will be decided on Sunday.' | Team ![]() |
| Aug 24 | Reason Chest/Abdominal Injury | Duration >4 wks | Further Detail Aug 16: 'After his injury, he trained with us, and unfortunately, he fractured his rib again, so he will be out for the next weeks.'
Aug 16: 'The groin injury meant he would return during the start of pre-season. As always with rehab, it was up and down - but he worked really hard. There was a little bit of a setback; it [came from] something that happens 50 times in a training session - it was unfortunate. He fractured his rib. It's very painful. It's not a big issue, but he needs to rest - you can't really do anything.'
Aug 30: '[Matheus], still with his fractured rib, is out.'
Sept 13: 'Franca is also not available. He's coming closer to the training pitch. We mentioned he ruptured his rib, and it's just painful, but he's already starting training individually on the pitch.'
Sept 20: 'The same [as Chalobah] with [Matheus]. His recovery has gone quicker than expected. He trained yesterday and today with the team. It's still a little bit too early [for him to play]; he will train next week, but he's coming back.'
Sept 27: 'Franca won't be in the squad after it was his first complete week with us. After almost six months, it would be unfair to him to be in the squad, but he feels well, and he has no problems.' | Team ![]() |
| Mar 24 | Reason Groin/Hip/Pelvic Injury | Duration >4 wks | Further Detail Mar 08: 'We will miss Franca tomorrow - he has a problem with his groin.'
Mar 29: 'Matheus has a problem with his groin. It's a little bit more difficult because when we increase the intensity of his training, he gets pain again. I cannot tell exactly when he will be back.' | Team ![]() |
| Aug 23 | Reason Lower Back Injury | Duration >4 wks | Further Detail Aug 08: 'The young lad from Brazil, who we have very high hopes for, is not going to be available because he's got an injury that he's looking after.'
Aug 11: 'Matheus has come to the club, and they detected a slight stress problem there, so the medical department don't want to push him into training for the next few weeks. Until he has a second scan, we'll have to do without him.'
Aug 17: 'The young Brazilian boy, Matheus, is still in rehabilitation - we don't quite know when he will be there for us.'
Aug 25: 'There isn't really a timeframe because he will need another scan to start with, and that will then tell us if the injury that he had when he joined us is progressing and clearing up.'
Sept 01: 'Matheus is with our medical dept. and we are keeping an eye on his situation. He is due to have another scan fairly soon to see if there is any improvement. I don't have an update in terms of the time he will come back.'
Sept 15: 'We hope he will be with us in a couple of weeks in training sessions. Then, he's got to get himself match-fit and accept that after the 6-7 weeks he's had to recover from his injury, he'll have to do plenty of work with us to get himself up to speed.'
Oct 06: 'The good news is that he is no longer injured, and he has been free to join in with the squad - as a spare player - not taking part in the actual thrust of football.'
Oct 20: 'He's not injured. He's a candidate, yeah. Training is training. We need to see him in games. In training, he's fine, he works hard, he does the right thing.' | Team ![]() |
