What is Mind Lab Pro?
Mind Lab Pro® is a 100% natural, vegan approved, nootropic ‘brain boost’ supplement, that is backed up by an independent study conducted at Leeds University in the United Kingdom (more on that below). It’s described as meeting the brain’s complex needs with 11 nootropics that work in 6 bio-pathways to optimise cognitive functions.
The manufacturer has a track record of developing ‘ultraclean’ supplements that contain no synthetic additives, preservatives, artificial colours or allergens. So much so that they boast Mind Lab Pro® is “the cleanest brain supplement ever developed”.
It’s claimed that their unique research-backed blend:
- Starts working in around 30 minutes.
- Increases alertness.
- Sharpens mental focus.
- Improves recall and verbal fluidity.
- Enables concentration for longer periods.
- Enhances clarity and speed of thought.
- Increases motivation.
- Calms and brightens mood.
Unsurprisingly, these claims have attracted a lot of interest and reviews. To help you quickly decide if Mind Lab Pro® is worth trying, we’ve collated a wide range of those reviews to give you a round up of common findings and highlight significant key points.

Or, if you can’t wait, skip straight to CONCLUSION: Is Mind Lab Pro® worth trying?
What are Nootropics?
Nootropic is a term commonly used to describe prescription drugs and dietary supplements that are designed to enhance aspects of cognition (brain health and function). They can take the form of natural or synthetic substances that each target specific brain processes such as memory, mental clarity, attention and concentration.
What is a Nootropic Stack?
Recent years have seen a growing trend of combining individual nootropic ingredients into a combination designed to enhance multiple aspects of cognition. This is known as a nootropic stack (think multi-vitamins combining individual vitamins).
What are cognitive functions?
Cognitive function refers to the mental processes of the brain. These include attention, decision making, memory, problem solving, learning, perception, reasoning and processing input mechanisms such as visual and audio senses.
What is a Universal Nootropic?
Universal Nootropic is a phrase coined by the manufacturer of Mind Lab Pro®. The idea being that it “boosts all aspects of cognition in all types of people – especially those with active lifestyles that demand dynamic brainpower.”
Who can benefit from nootropic brain supplements?
Mind Lab Pro® is described as a ‘universal’ nootropic suitable for everyone – vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free, GMO-free and caffeine-free (yes, caffeine-free, a surprising discovery we’ll come back to).
It’s a no-brainer (excuse the pun!) that such nootropics have the potential to benefit everyone. Whether you’re working, studying, competing or simply want to be at your best every day. Nootropics are designed to optimise brain chemistry to improve mental performance, including problem-solving, creativity, memory, motivation, attention, positive mood and clarity of thought.
It’s pointed out that there are other ways to support your brain health. We certainly advocate healthy eating, with a varied, well-balanced, whole-foods diet, regular exercise, stress-relieving relaxation and getting good quality sleep.
Nootropic brain supplements, like Mind Lab Pro®, can help ensure all the key nutrient needs for good brain health are met.
What makes Mind Lab Pro different to other nootropics?
The manufacturer of Mind Lab Pro® calls it the first nootropic of its kind – a ‘universal’ nootropic that functions as a “whole-brain optimiser” where other supplements may only target 2 or 3 of the brain pathways. Uniquely, this nootropic is backed up by independent research conducted by Leeds University in the United Kingdom (more details below).
One of the biggest strengths of Mind Lab Pro® we repeatedly came across is its uniquely developed formula of 11 key ingredients that target 6 brain pathways:
- Energy
- Brain Chemicals
- Blood Flow
- Brainwaves
- Neuroprotection
- Neuroregeneration
Mind Lab Pro® is known for using consistently high quality, pure forms of ingredients, with no additives or fillers. Full disclosure of ingredient amounts is provided, backed up with a comprehensive process of testing and quality control, so users know exactly what they are putting into their body.
A key talking point around the formula is that it doesn’t include caffeine, a stimulant that many nootropics are said to rely on. Being caffeine-free is particularly good news for those who are sensitive to it and suffer side effects such as headaches and jitters.
Does Mind Lab Pro nootropic really work?
The real stand out claim of this nootropic is that it’s scientifically proven to work.
An independent study has been conducted by Leeds University in the United Kingdom, with double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Dr Andrea Utley summarises:
” The results of the initial three-month study are impressive, to say the least.
I was surprised by the degree of statistical significance.
We have submitted our findings to peer-reviewed scientific journals for publication.
We are soon to begin work on the next phase. “
There is also anecdotal evidence of real benefits experienced by those who have published their own reviews of Mind Lab Pro®.
This is further supported by numerous positive customer reviews, whilst some customer reviews report no noticeable effects from taking it.
Ultimately, supplementation is a personal experience and each individual must find what works for them. Mind Lab Pro® appears to be a nootropic supplement with a higher efficacy than most nootropics on the market, and can be tried for 1 month risk-free thanks to a money-back guarantee.
It’s also worth noting that Mind Lab Pro® boast a number of eye catching advocates, such as chess Grandmaster, British champion and Internal Chess Federation Vice-President, Nigel Short:
You can find more advocate testimonies on the Mind Lab Pro® website here.
What are the ingredients?
Opti-Nutra®, the creators of Mind Lab Pro®, pride themselves in producing ‘ultra-modern’, ‘ultra-clean’, ‘research-backed nutrition technologies’. This may explain why we often find a real buzz around their products (and why they offer a money-back guarantee).
It is claimed that the latest version of Mind Lab Pro® is the most innovative and effective nootropic formula ever made, with a precise blend of 11 research-backed nootropic ingredients that optimise 6 brain pathways:

Dr Ramon Velazquez at Mind Lab Pro® explains the unique blend of ingredients:
Many reviews that we appraised gave recognition to the premium quality of ingredients. This is a very important point, especially given that Mind Lab Pro® is not a budget priced nootropic. Each ingredient is provided in a form that is designed to maximise potency and bioavailability – the rate and extent to which it is absorbed into the body.
Another widely discussed point was around individual ingredient quantities, with two key points raised:
- A number of the deeper reviews questioned some of the individual ingredient amounts, suggesting they were below the more widely accepted optimal amounts.
- The counter argument to some ingredients having lower amounts than other products on the market is that the individual amounts have been carefully formulated so, when combined, they provide greater performance overall.
On the whole, there was praise for the quantities used, with the belief that it provides a ‘goldilocks’ formula that is just right. Just enough of each ingredient to maximise the overall combined effect, whilst minimising the possibility of adverse effects.
Full details of the published ingredients are as follows:
Let’s take a closer look at each ingredient…
Citicoline is widely regarded as the number one ingredient in a nootropic supplement. This is largely due to research that has demonstrated its effectiveness in brain health protection, restoration and regeneration. Its primary role in Mind Lab Pro®, is to improve mood balance and promote memory, focus and concentration. Research studies suggest it can also help combat long-term age-related changes and mental decline.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10669911/
Phosphatidylserine is a particularly interesting nootropic ingredient being “the only nootropic with an FDA-qualified claim for reducing cognitive decline risk.” It has been shown to help with anxiety, mental clarity, mood and slowing memory loss.
A number or reviews mention that it also has potential to fight against cognitive impairment, although this has only been observed with animals to date.

Bacopa is regarded as another ‘big hitter’ for this brain supplement. It’s claimed that medical research has shown Bacopa enhances short and longer term memory recall and learning. It may also help with thinking tasks whilst under stress and encourage relaxation to bring clarity of thought.
Several studies are also closely looking at Bacopa Monnieri, and the related family of plants, for potential neuroprotective properties against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers.

Otherwise known as Yamabushitake, Lion’s Mane Mushroom is another research qualified ingredient, stimulating nerve growth factor production that is instrumental to brain cell regeneration. The most referenced research study focused on people in the 50 to 80 year old age range, where significant cognitive improvements were observed.

We encountered numerous claims of the benefits of Maritime Pine bark Extract – learning, short-term focus and reversing age-related memory degradation. It’s garnered a lot of interest given its association with blood circulation and antioxidant properties.
This is one ingredient where the research studies appear less conclusive as to its benefits for improved cognition and brain health. That said, it’s a popular inclusion with Mind Lab Pro® with no evidence of any harmful side effects.

L-Tyrosine is an amino acid compound that is essential to the production of neurotransmitters involved with mental processing, mood and memory. Mind Lab Pro® highlight its ability to aid mental performance and memory under stressful and fatigued conditions. Supported by evidence from human clinical research, it’s a popular choice for those who build their own nootropic stacks.

L-Theanine is another amino acid within the Mind Lab Pro® formula and is present in green tea. The inclusion of L-Theanine is to help create a feeling of calm whilst increasing attention, focus and creativity.
Research suggests it promotes relaxing neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and GABA, so another popular ingredient for those who build their own nootropic stacks.
It’s also highlighted that L-Theanine helps to dampen the harsh jittery effects that can be sometimes be experienced with caffeine. This helps make Mind Lab Pro® a good brain supplement choice for those who like their coffee!

Rhodiola rosea is included for its purported Adaptogen properties. Adaptogens are believed to help the body adjust itself to various forms for stress (physical, chemical or biological).
We struggled to find quantifiable research that supports the claimed benefits of Rhodiola rosea, and it generally wasn’t addressed in the Mind Lab Pro® product reviews we collated. It remains a popular herbal remedy though and will be a welcome inclusion for some.

The vitamin trio of B6, B9 and B12 is widely acknowledged as an excellent addition to the stack, being recognised as beneficial for brain health. They help regulate levels of homocysteine. Irregular levels of homocysteine can disrupt various brain functions. Optimal levels of B6, B9 and B12 can increase blood flow to the brain and protect against cognitive decline and ageing.

Is Mind Lab Pro safe?
The FAQs on the Mind Lab Pro® website state that all ingredients are safe and well tolerated. In fact they claim it is the world’s cleanest nootropic, labelling it as ‘ultraclean’:
- no artificial colours,
- no preservatives,
- no GMO, no gluten,
- no caffeine
- and no additives.
Even the capsules are ‘clean’ and vegan-friendly.
It is important to note that the label on the supplement bottle states that it should not be taken if pregnant, nursing or under 18. Whilst, given the nature of the supplement, this isn’t out of the ordinary, it is not made particularly clear on the Mind Lab Pro® website itself. Several product reviews we looked at also failed to mention this and is something consumers should be aware of before purchasing.
Does Mind Lab Pro have side effects?
Anecdotal evidence largely concurs that it is safe and generally well tolerated, with virtually no reported side effects. A few may experience mild stomach upsets when first taking it, so starting on a low dose to help your body adapt is advisable.
There are a very small number of reports of people experiencing mood swings whilst taking Mind Lab Pro® – alternating between feeling on a mental high and quite low. Those instances point out that they were taking additional supplements at the same time, as part of their nootropic stack.
The makers of Mind Lab Pro® market the product as a ‘universal nootropic‘, designed to provide optimum doses of all the required nutrients in a single supplement. So those who are mixing supplements for a more tailored stack might benefit from starting with a low dosage and slowly increase it as required. Another option might be to cease the other supplements when starting Mind Lab Pro® and see if the other supplements are still needed.
Of course, as with food, we can experience personal intolerances to specific ingredients. If you are aware of any such intolerances you should check the supplement ingredients. With any supplementation program, it is advisable to consult your doctor first, especially if you’re taking any medication or have any health concerns.
Is Mind Lab Pro good for ADHD?
First, let’s be clear, we would certainly not make the suggestion that Mind Lab Pro® is a ‘wonder drug’ for ADHD. Anyone taking ADHD related medication should always consult their doctor before altering and/or supplementing it.
That said, we can’t ignore the fact that several reviews make reference to supplementation of Mind Lab Pro® for those with ADHD. This appears to be due to a common view that its effects on focus and attention are relatively smooth and gentle, without the stimulation often associated with supplements that target mental cognition.
It’s further cited that ADHD is widely linked with an imbalance of neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine and dopamine. So a supplement designed to balance the brain chemistry is naturally of interest.
The particular ingredient that is discussed in the context of ADHD is N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (NALT) which is suggested helps address a lack of dopamine in the brain. Around this discussion there are anecdotes of NALT assisting the efficacy of Ritalin (a commonly used medication for those with ADHD). However, any research studies mentioned have involved children, not adults.
More information and expert advice Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can be found on the NHS website.
Is Mind Lab Pro good for anxiety?
It’s suggested that Mind Lab Pro® offers benefits for those who suffer with anxiety. This is due to the inclusion of the ingredients Bacopa Monneri, Rhodiola Rosea and L-Theanine.
Rhodiola Rosea is a natural anxiolytic that lowers cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone. Research papers are quoted as clinical evidence that it can improve symptoms of Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Likewise, Bacopa Moneri is also said to lower cortisol in the body. In addition, L-Theanine, found naturally is green tea, is known for its calming properties.
This article discusses in greater detail the role of nootropics in alleviating social anxiety.
To better understand if you may be suffering with anxiety, you can take the NHS depression and anxiety self-assessment quiz here.
Anyone diagnosed with anxiety related conditions should always consult their doctor before altering and/or supplementing any prescribed medication.
What is the recommended dosage?
The recommended dose for Mind Lab Pro® is 2-4 capsules daily. It’s suggested that best results are achieved by taking 2 capsules in the morning, before food, and then another 2 capsules early afternoon, if required. Four capsules provides what is termed clinical-range dosage across all 11 ingredients, for maximum potency.
Users can expect to start noticing some effects after about 30 minutes, with more alertness and focus.
Results are said to increase the longer its used, subtly accumulating over time. Some reviewers explained how this is due to the generation of new brain cells and nerve regeneration being a continuous process. For this reason, most argue that Mind Lab Pro® is a nootropic stack that should be taken continuously.
Interestingly, one or two suggested working to a principle of cycling nootropic stacks (a nootropic stack is simply a combination of supplements used for improving cognitive functions). For example, using the supplement for 5 days ‘on’ and then have 2 days ‘off’.
Even though some of its ingredients would often be cycled by more advanced users (who build their own supplement stack), according to the manufacturer, Mind Lab Pro’s® unique formula is designed to be taken continuously as a complete ‘universal’ brain nootropic stack.
Is Mind Lab Pro a vegan nootropic?
Yes, Mind Lab Pro® is a nootropic brain supplement suitable for vegans. All the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro® are 100% vegan-friendly.
In addition, the capsules are made with 100% natural vegan prebiotic NutriCaps®. This is a key difference highlighted with Mind Lab Pro®. NutriCaps® are made from a type of natural fermented tapioca called pullulan.
What are the pros and cons of Mind Lab Pro?

What do users say about Mind Lab Pro?
Supplementation is a personal experience, so hearing the experiences of actual users of the product can be helpful. Not everyone felt it provided the desired effects but the vast majority were positive. Here are a selection of user reviews:
I have tried a few…
Review by Kim E. on 7 May 2022
I have tried a few noortropics and Mind Pro is the best! I felt effects almost immediately and my energy level and focus have improved considerably. Thank you so much! Customer forever
Wakeup
Review by Brian R. in March 2022
Typically I feel tired every day. However taking 2 every morning in 1 week on/off rotation I’ve been feeling awake when it’s time to start the day. My mind feels awake.
2 weeks in, first impressions
Review by Victor M. in February 2022
Overall it’s a good experience so far but it needs to prolonged to be able to confirm its effects. Note that on the first week for me, it seemed more chaotic than usual and it got better on the second (in terms of concentration specially).
This product is ok.
Review by Valonte P. in December 2021
This product is ok. My first bottle I felt great! But on my second bottle I felt no difference. I stopped taking it to give myself a break. When I started again I still felt no difference no boost of my levels at all in exercise studies or work. Now I just feel disappointed.
I like it
Review by Giselle C. in Jan 2022
Really pleased with this product. I can actually tell on the days when I forget to take it. It’s a subtle shift with big impact. I like that I don’t feel jittery or anxious, or crash like when I take prescription options. I feel more centered, focused, and calm.
Was so happy and excited
Review by Maria S. in February 2022
Was so happy and excited to try this product unfortunately it didn’t work and gave me headaches. I did receive a refund.
Not like the other ineffective nootropics
Review by Ethan M.
Not like the other ineffective nootropics that hide behind a heavy dose of caffeine. This stuff might not work over night, but after a couple of weeks your body starts to reap the benefits of repetition. Memory, alertness and mental sharpness all seemed to be noticeably more dialed in once the supplement was in my system long enough to have an impact on my brain chemistry.
Pretty darn good.
Review by Dan D. in Feb 2022
I really really liked this nootropic. I definitely felt the benefit and my performance on it was definitely sharper. And it fit in mi diet very well. And it absolutely helped my concentration. The only downfall I’d say is I wish it had a bit of caffeine in it like others just to give it a bit more of a buzz. The price is a little steep bit definitely worth it.
These reviews, and many more, are published on the Mind Lab Pro website.
We also found a couple of discussion threads on Reddit. Here’s a snapshot that typifies the vibe:
Mind Lab Pro – any experiences or comments with this stack ?
“the only things that i see there that could actually repair any damage are lions mane and the B-vitamins, the rest of them definitely won’t hurt though and will probably help with the depression and anxiety. It’s a good stack man.”

Opinions about Mindlab Pro?
“probably one of the “higher quality” all in one pills service/products on the market. If you just can’t take more than one pill a day but you gotta have a decent “stack” this is probably a decent choice.”

How much does Mind Lab Pro cost?
Mind Lab Pro® is considered an above average priced nootropic but, given the comprehensive inclusion of 11 key ingredients, it’s also argued that it represents excellent value for money overall when compared to purchasing all the ingredients as separate supplements. The latest prices can be found on the Mind Lab Pro® website.
Where can I buy Mind Lab Pro?
Mind Lab Pro® is manufactured and sold by Opti-Nutra® Ltd and is only available online, via their own website. The lack of availability at popular supplement retailers, and marketplaces such as Amazon, is frequently cited as a downside for this particular brain supplement. However, Opti-Nutra® say this enables them to ensure quality control and prevent customers falling victim to scam sellers, which is an ongoing issue for supplements sold on marketplaces.
